I visit my grandparents at least once a week at their place for dinner because it makes them happy. I suppose it's also because I miss them, growing up they kidnapped me and kept me hostage in at their house, spoiling me with too many toys and a big screen T.V. But yeah, it's important for me to visit them at least once a week since one of my biggest fears is that something terrible will happen one day and then I'd regret never seeing them.
Manslave
I slept over at their place with AB last night, back in the summer when they had just recently moved into their new place in Richmondhill I would sleep over for weeks at a time, I would always end up going fatter because my grandma is a fantastic cook and makes the best filipino dishes.
Anyway, I don't know what the point to writing this is. I saw the skating gala for the Olympics tonight and holy crap, these skaters are like, pure talent. It's hard to explain how inspiring it is to watch someone who has worked so hard to get to the point where they are just pure awesomeness.
Yeah, so I was talking to Nat the other day at work, again, and she told me how her friends one time made a stop motion vid with timbits acting out Othello. Gah. How brilliant. I spent the rest of my shift thinking about my own timbit story line. Nat also wants to create her own webcomic.
Today at work was insane, it was just one problem after the other and I didn't think I'd get out in time. The one thing I've noticed is that the longer I've worked there the more people assume I know what I'm doing, which is only partly true, but then they start asking me all sorts of questions that are unrelated to my department. Oh well, what can you do when you live in a zoo.
At the moment I'm also in the midst of writing my essay for Robinson Crusoe and his questionable relationship with his manslave: Friday. I was eating with my mom today and realized that Robinson Crusoe and my mom are very similar, in that they both narrate their life with very many contradictions, they love their slaves and give little regard to those that they're not suppose too. It's all very confusing.
Joannie Rochette
Joannie Rochette is a true inspiration. Her mother died earlier this week and for her to be able to perform so well in the Olympics is beyond expectation, that's true Olympic spirit right there! Just goes to show you, determination and practicing hard goes a long way. Her mom would have been proud.
Practice practice practice!
Harry Potter Pick Up Line
Your name must be Severus Severus, because you're making my prince full blood.
Love
Isn't it strange how Valentines day can be a day someone could love while at the same time it can be a day that someone absolutely hates.
Good Gravy
The other day Aaron did something funky in his friends basement and came home passed out because he drank too much.
The whole family flipped. I looked up the symptoms of alcohol poisoning on google and he had at least four of the symptoms which was NOT GOOD. He woke up in the middle of the night throwing up everywhere in his room and the living room. So while he was gone at school today I did the responsible thing of snooping around his computer to see what he's been up too and hid all the alcohol in the house.
I talked to him as soon as he got home from school which I think was effective. I mean, he ended up telling me the whole story and swore to never do it again because he doesn't even like the taste of alcohol. Although I was really worried about him, I managed not to yell at him.
That wasn't the case for everyone though. My mom yelled and yelled and then told him how his organs were going to collapse from too much alcohol and AB broke down crying when she confronted him. Matt and Dad didn't bother doing anything except call him stupid, really supportive huh.
Aaron is so quiet and withdrawn that it's hard to see what he's up too all the time. I figured that since at his age I was the same way and because we had the same people raise us he would have inherited my common sense as well. Well, we'll still have to see about that.
My mom's birthday is tomorrow. Since I'm relatively broke (been having to pay for random miscellaneous and unexpected things lately) I decided that I'll just clean up the house and make dinner for her. Even if I can't cook.
My family drives me crazy sometimes.
Doodle
The other day at work Nat was doodling, as she always does, and since it was a pretty quiet night at work I decided to doodle something as well. So I drew this:

The rough sketch anyway, I redoodled it in my sketch book afterward. This is a doodle of Matt complaining in his half drunken state about Manley biting him on the lips while they were sharing a shrimp chip.
I had coloured this in but apparently I'm too challenged to figure out how the scanner works so it didn't scan in colour. Psh. The coloured version looks 100% better. I wish I had photoshop to colour it in my laptop.
I don't usually doodle anymore, I use to a lot more in high school. I stopped because I reached a point where I just couldn't get any better and I got frustrated and gave up and decided to take up photography instead. If you look closely, Manley's hands are retarded and so are Matt's. Actually, you don't even need to look closely for that.
Because I don't doodle anymore, people are usually surprised when they realize I'm actually decent in doodling, and they always ask why they can't doodle like that too, after all, doodling is just doodling. BUT! Though it may not appear that way, I practiced and practiced doodling until I gave up. I use to have no life, and as a result paper and pencil became my best friend. In the summers I would stay home all day and stay up all night doodling to my hearts content. I usually doodled Harry Potter.
Subway Musicians
Sometimes when I'm at Dundas and Yonge I look up at all the flashy advertisements they have have displayed there in huge, glittering billboards calling for your attention and feel remorseful for that waste of space. Personally, I feel like they should have something more productive other than advertisements placed up there, such as inspirational quotes, or something to promote the betterment of humanity.
I mentioned this to Leo at one time, and being the logical kind of person he is, he simply said, "Well, that doesn't generate profit does it?"
And that's what it all has come down to: how much money one thing makes in order to be a useful use of space. Which is depressing if you think about it. What happened to doing something selflessly in order to encourage each other to do something useful?
Subway musicians are kind of like that, even if they don't do what they do entirely for free (on average they get up to $10-$16 dollars in change an hour.) I have a favourite Subway musician who I unfortunately don't get to see a lot of. Last year when I had to suffer through morning commute because I didn't have the luxury of night classes, I would often pass by this Subway Musician in Spadina station. He's a very chubby old man with a white beard, bearing a huge resemblance to Santa Clause in overalls, a wind breaker and a guitar strapped in front of him. He would always be smiling. And yodeling. That was the best part, he would play the guitar and yodel at the same time.
He would steal your change with his smile. But seeing him there, yodeling his heart out at 9 a.m. (perhaps earlier) would always put a genuine smile on your face. That's sort of what I mean by putting up something more useful other than adds at Yonge and Dundas. Flashy advertisements makes you feel like you're a part of a big marketing scheme where all they want is your money. Subway musicians that yodel make you smile and feel better about yourself, perhaps making you more productive.
Yeah, just another rant. I'm still working on my presentation for Without A Name at the moment. It's hard, there's this whole essence of a real feminist struggle within the book, that women are given this stereotype in which they must confine in and going anywhere outside of that stereotype and breaking your silence will slowly kill you because you have been rejected and silenced. Sometimes causing you to commit infanticide (whoops. Just killed the ending of the book for you)
