Happy Valentine's Day!

To set you guys in the mood, watch this video:

It's 20 something minutes long so I'll recap it for you guys quickly (but watch the video! It's cute!). When Charis was in jr. high, she was bullied and made fun of continuously by some girls in her school. To make herself feel 'worthy' she began going out with random guys throughout high school, all of which quickly escalated too quickly and soon became very sexual. Soon, she became immensely depressed and even contemplated suicide when the Lord spoke to her and told her she was loved.

Since then, she began attending meetings regularly, preaching of God's love to those who may feel unworthy, and eventually went on a missionary trip to Alaska, the state with the highest suicide rate. There, she had a clear speaking from God to stop dating around and just focus on Him and her time serving Him. So, she gave up dating.

A few years later, she began taking drum lessons from this brother named Jacob at church and soon began to grow attracted to him, but remembering her promise to God, she prayed her feelings would go away. Unbeknownst to her, Jacob also felt attracted to her and spoke to their pastor about it, and Jacob felt that he wanted to honour Charis and did not pursue a relationship.

Fast forward four years or waiting, one night after her friend's wedding, Charis went to God in tears because of her feelings for Jacob. God asked her if she truly trusted Him, and if she did, she would be patient and rely on Him. So she had peace. What she didn't know was that very soon, Jacob would be proposing to her. Basically, Jacob went to their pastor to speak about Charis, when during their prayer time, they felt that God gave Jacob the green light to pursue Charis. But Jacob didn't want to play the dating game, and knew he would marry Charis anyway, so he proposed to her straight up.

WHAT!

I love this story. It's a story about waiting on God's perfect timing, about trusting Him, having a clear heart of servitude, and listening to him.

Don't you guys think this is amazing? One thing that struck me about Charis is her willing to serve God no matter what and the amount of self-sacrifice she gave: Not just 10% of herself, but 100%.

There's a lot we can learn from this aside from the part where she ends up happily ever after.
