Sometimes, in noodle bowl land, not everything is perfect. Some noodle bowls fly away, some noodle bowls get their heart broken, and some noodle bowls worry too much, such as the case of worrisome noodle bowl.
Worrisome Noodle Bowl
Worrisome noodle bowl worried too much, about little things and big things. His worries varied from accidentally waddling over an ant to what his siblings, monkey noodle bowl 1 and monkey noodle bowl 2, were going to do with their life. Worrisome noodle bowl would stay up late at night, talking to his best friend, supportive noodle bowl, about his brothers.
You see, monkey noodle bowl 1 and monkey noodle bowl 2 were special. Instead of being smooth, their noodles were rough. Instead of having chicken broth, they had tomato paste. Instead of having a perfectly round noodle bowl, they were oblong. In plain English, they were different. Worrisome noodle bowl worried because, no matter how different they were, monkey noodle bowl 1 and 2 were his siblings, and he cared about them.
But getting help for delinquent noodle bowls were hard to come about. Worrisome noodle bowl certainly can't find help with noodle-bowl-who-liked-to-yell-until-her-noodles-turned-purple noodle bowl and certainly not with I-don't-tolerate-different-noodle-bowls noodle bowl.
So worrisome noodle bowl worries and worries, hoping help will come. Which it will, supportive noodle bowl tells him. You just have to look in the right places.
Like where? Worrisome noodle bowl asks.
Like under the sink. Supportive noodle bowl answers.
What does that mean?
Or like under the cushions on the couch.
You mean, like how you find change there?
Exactly.
I think I understand what you mean. Worrisome noodle bowl says, glancing at the couch.

Moral of the story: The help you need is always under your nose, you just have to look in the right places.

Soul Searching
My friend Tabi and I went to Centre Island today because we were volunteering with a group of LEAP students. We arrived too early and spent at least an hour sitting on the bench, talking. I met Tabi when we were in jr. high at church and pretty much grew up together although we weren't as close before as we are now.
I have two sets of friends, very loosely categorized this is how I see them as: My Church Friends and Other Friends
For some reason, no matter how long we've last seen or spoken to each other, I always feel closer to my Church Friends.
So Tabi and I were sitting there, talking, first about guys, then I don't know how we got to this but I ended up confessing to her how empty I've been feeling lately. This weird feeling like something is majorly missing in my life. And that thought of feeling empty didn't occur to me until I started talking to Tabbi because it wasn't until that moment that I realized what it really was.
Though I really have nothing to feel empty about, I already have a lot of things.
1) I am able to get an education, which, as the kids I'm volunteering with has taught me, is not a privilege everyone has.
2) I have great friends who I can count on
3) I will always have family to take care of me
4) I have a job
5) I have more or less everything I want, materialistically
SO WHY DO I FEEL LIKE SOMETHING IS MISSING/EMPTY?
Sometimes, when I'm down, it's easy to blame it on Leo. I start thinking: "Oh, I'm feeling this way because I texted him and it's been three hours and he hasn't texted me back/I'm feeling this way because he didn't set up a date for this week/I'm feeling this way because he never bothers to get to know me... etc."
But really, that's just an excuse.
So then I blame it on school: "Oh, I'm feeling down because I got a bad grade/I have too much homework to do/I don't have enough 'me' time."
And that's just another excuse, because I'm on summer vacation and I don't have school to worry about.
So what is this weird empty feeling then?
Tabi didn't give me an answer, but gah, now I'm frustrated. Does this mean I have to do some soul searching? Or am I just out of it >:/
Too much attention
Giving your boyfriend too much attention is like spoiling a child, it's not always the best investment.
(this doesn't necessarily have anything directly to do with him, but in many ways I find this to be very, very true)
Nosy People
:/
Weird things always pop up at work. I've come to realize to never trust managers in high positions because they're too nosy and ask too many questions.
AND SOME PEOPLE LIEEE!!!
Not managers, but other people who may want to cover their butts and consequently make me look bad.
psh.
Good Deals
So the other day I was walking around Sears with my grandparents and my grandma mentioned to me that she wanted an electric grill that was going on sale on Friday. Since I procrastinate, I didn't buy it on Friday when I went to work and bought it on Saturday instead, which was unknowingly a good thing for me.
Basically, the grill was originally $59.99, it went on sale for $52.99, and on Saturday we had a Superbuck, which was basically $10 off anything over $50. Then I had my 10% employee discount on top of that, and because I won a $30 gift card a few weeks ago from the pillow contest, I only ended up paying $10.18 for the grill.
Mwahaha, I practically got it for free. I love good deals. This is one of the perks of working at a department store.
